Pecos NHP (New Mexico)

We used our handy dandy Passport map to locate this when we wanted to stop for lunch.  Ended up with an unexpected trail to Ancestral Puebloan ruins which include a kiva (ceremonial circular hole) which could be entered/exited on a ladder.  It was a very good stop - much much better than say a roadside park on the interstate. I got a cancellation for the Sante Fe Trail and we saw a wallowed out rutted area marked as the old trail.  We continued on to spend the night in Taos.  On the way, we saw the Rio Grande Gorge - I didn't know there was such a gorge there.  The Rio Grande starts in Colorado in the San Juan Mountains above Creede.
