A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Sadie D. Stroud will be at 10 am Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Father Craig Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery, Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 6 pm - 8 pm on Friday, September 30, 2011. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 pm.

Mrs. Stroud, 96, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday evening, September 28, 2011, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Stroud was born near Campti on July 15, 1915. She was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception and was very proud of her fifty year membership pin from Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed watching mass, the rosary, and Mother Angelica on EWTN.

Her life was spent giving to others as a loving wife, mother, and friend. Her strong faith was a tremendous source of inspiration to all who knew her, and her prayer support and love will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her extended family ties were very important to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gilbert Stroud, Sr.; parents, William T. and Della Maricelli Grappe; brothers, William Grappe, Lawson Grappe, Sam Grappe, Daniel Grappe, and Bernard Grappe; sisters, Francina Grappe Desadier and Cora Grappe Pritchard; and sons-in-law, Richard Dearman and Raymond Arthur.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sue Stroud Dearman and Elizabeth Stroud Arthur, both of Natchitoches, and William Gilbert Stroud, Jr. and wife Tina, of Metairie; six grandchildren, Lisa Dearman Boydstun and husband Clark of Pineville, Allison Arthur Stamey - Jimenez and husband Robert of Lewisville, Texas, Susan Arthur-Cowsert and husband Craig of Lewisville, Texas.; Laurie Dearman Clark and husband Jeff of New Orleans, Susan Stroud Sewell and husband Dave of Metarie, William Gilbert Stroud, III of Metarie; great grandchildren Jeffrey, Jared, Joanna, Janelle, Jacob, Jonathan, and Jennifer Boydstun, Stephen Stamey, Michael and Matthew Jimenez, Erin Hebert, Christina and Kyle Cowsert, Peyton and Emma Clark, Abigail Sewell, and Isabella Stroud; sister, July Grappe McLain, of Malverne, Arkansas; as well as numerous extended family members.
