Just received word from Rosalie that her sister-in-law, Margaret, wife of Jerry Lott died suddenly last night of a heart attack.  No other information at this time.

 Margaret passed away April 1, 2011 in Minden. Visitation will be Monday April 4, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Minden April 5, 2011 at 10:00 am. Rev. Leland Crawford will officiate, assisted by Rev. Bill Crider.

Margaret was born on her mother's 22nd birthday, May 22, 1939 and grew up on the family farm. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Helen Odom and Claude Wilson Richardson of the Colquitt Community. Margaret often referred to herself as a 50's girl, meaning she grew up in the best time and in the best place.

She was a 1957 honor graduate and school beauty at Haynesville High School. Her senior year was especially exciting as she represented the LA Farm Bureau Federation. She was a guest at all the Louisiana festivals, visited in the governor's mansion and attended Mardi Gras in Washington D.C. where she was formally introduced to Vice President Nixon. She was also a maid at the Sugar Bowl Game.

After graduating from Spencer-Draughn Business School, Margaret spent 34 years in the work place. The years were divided between United Gas, Minden Bank and Trust, and Peoples Bank where she retired as Sibley Branch Manager.

Margaret had many interest. She loved traveling, cooking, entertaining, and photography. However, she valued her role as wife, mother, and grandmother most. Every year she looked forward to special holidays and beach vacations with her little clan. Another great love was teaching Sunday School. She taught in the 5th grade department at First Baptist Church, Minden for over 20 years.

She is predeceased by her mother, Helen Odom Richardson. Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Jerry Lott; son Greg Lott and wife Cindy of Shreveport; daughter Kristie Frasier and husband Shannon of Ruston, grandchildren Chase Frasier, Tanner Frasier, Henry Cole Lott, and Mary Helen Lott. Margaret is also survived by her father, Claude Richardson; sisters Jerry Ann Owens and husband Barry; and Rose Marie Mullins; nephew, Mark Owens all of Haynesville. One niece Alyson Glasscock of Newport Coast, California.

Honoring Margaret, as pallbearers will be Chase Frasier, Tanner Frasier, Shannon Frasier, Mark Owens, Barry Owens, and Jack Ewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to 1st Baptist Church in Minden, LA and Baptist Children Home in Monroe, LA.
