Margie Marie Racine McCorkel, age 86, of Campti, LA, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011, at Natchitoches Nursing and Rehabilitation in Natchitoches, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2011. A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM during the visitation. The funeral service will be at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Campti, LA at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2011, with Rev. Ryan Humpheries officiating. Interment will be at Pardee Cemetery in Campti, LA.

Mrs. Margie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She owned a fish market for several years in Campti, LA. She had a talent for fixing broken items, was an avid reader, and was very strong willed. She was a unique lady, one that will always stand out in the Campti community, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. McCorkel, Sr.; her parents, Oliver Racine and Mary Ella Racine; and one grandchild, James Wesley Peterson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sis. Susie Maria Lea, ESEH of Shreveport, LA and Mary Margaret Frickey of Schriever, LA; two sons, Thomas W. McCorkel, Jr. of Campti, LA and Joseph Oliver McCorkel of Shreveport, LA; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
