Kathleen Corley Massey, NHS Class of 1961, says her mother taught HomeEc briefly, and passed away 20 May 1998 in Shreveport.  She is buried in Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, LA.

Shreveport, LA - Mrs. Chloteal Corley, 80, died at Grace Home on Wednesday, May 20, 1998 after a lengthy illness.  Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on May 22 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.  She will also lie in state on Saturday from 8:00 until 10:00 a.m.  A brief graveside service will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.  A memorial service will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 23rd in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Corley was a native and resident of Shreveport for 30 plus years.  She was born in 1918 and lived with her parents during her early and teen years in various oil fields, having graduated from Zwolle High School in 1934 and Mary Hardin Baylor in 1938.  She was married in 1939, lived in Natchitoches 1941-62 and received her Masters Degree in 1955.  She lived in Commerce, TX 1962-67 and Shreveport 1967-98.

She joined the Baptist Church at age nine and was a member for many years.  She spent her lifetime seeking and loving the Lord with various groups of Christians and has fellowshiped with the church in Shreveport since 1978.

Mrs. Corley was preceded in death by her brother, Arliss Ray Middleton, who was killed in 1937 in the New London School explosion and both parents, Orelia Hinkle Middleton and Frank Middleton.  She is survived by her husband, Glyn Jackson Corley; one daughter, Kathleen Massey; four sons, Glyn Arliss, Marcus Leo, George Frank and Robert Middleton Corley; seven grandchildren, Russell Taylor Massey, Alisa Lynn Massey Milton, Nathan Thomas Corley, Ryan Jackson Corley, Caroline Corley, Alison Morgan Corley and Marcus Kevin Corley; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Danielle, Cody Dean and Russell Dillon Massey; one sister, Milly Jean Middleton Troy; and many, many brothers and sisters in Christ.

The family requests that memorials may be made to Schumpert Medical Center Hospice, Grace Home, One St. Mary Place, Shreveport, LA 71101 or to a charity of donor's choice.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to faithful friends, nurses, aides and especially Vera Davis and Sylviane Newman for their love and caring during her illness.
