After Polly and I moved back from Texas to Pineville, LA we heard of Jim being with our water district but it was some time before we made contact and rehashed NHS days.  Jim said while all the other kids were at ball games and school activities he was home learning to play G, C and D on his guitar.  As best I remember he  told us he had played bass guitar for Elvis Presley once upon. a time.

Later visiting with Jim while Polly was playing with a group at a nursing home Jim told of being a cavalryman in he movie, Horse Soldiers.  He told of playing cards with John Wayne, who he really liked, said John was just a good ole boy, not stuck on himself like so many of the stars.  He also met Festus and Hoot Gibson who were in the movie.  Hoot liked Natchitoches and said he'd like to buy a little place here, about 30,000 to 40,000 acres.
