Biography
Donald Lynn Dutile, son of Edmond and Lessie Mae Royston Dutile, was born June 5, 1942, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He departed this life Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, eleven months, and twenty-seven days.
On August 25, 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Lee Hunt, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.
His parents preceded him in death.
Donald is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; two sons, James Dutile, and his wife, Lisa, of Morrisville, North Carolina, and Keith Dutile, and his wife, Jodi, of Bourbon, Missouri; three daughters, Jackie Patterson, and her husband, Jeremy, of Lebanon, Missouri, Michelle Dutile, of Statesville, North Carolina, and Tabitha Varady, and her husband, Robert, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Gordon Dutile, and his wife, Judy, of Bolivar, Missouri; three sisters, Janet Cheek, and her husband, Ralph, of Hollyridge, Louisiana, Betty Ann Lockhart, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Jackie Lawson, and her husband, Turner, of La Place, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Louisiana and then joined the United States Army right after graduating from high school. During his tour of duty in the Army he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and he met and married Betty. Upon receiving his honorable discharge from the military, he and Betty moved to Nebraska, where Donald worked on ranches for several years. They then moved to Lebanon, Missouri, made their home and lovingly finished raising their family. Donald, who was often called “Gator” by his family and friends, worked for the Durham Company, and did masonry work before becoming a school bus driver for the Lebanon R-III Schools. He continued as a bus driver for twenty-four years before retiring.
On January 29, 1966, Donald dedicated his life to Jehovah God. He remained a faithful and baptized witness of Jehovah God.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting and liked teaching his grandchildren how to do both. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, and being from Louisiana, his specialty was Cajun food. His family was very important to him and he dearly loved his grandchildren.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them throughout the years.
