Memorial services for James Howard Cobb, 46, of Natchitoches, were held in First Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Monday with Dr. Bradley Creed and the Rev. Roy Flurry officiating.  Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements and graveside services will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Cobb had been president of Progressive Federal Savings Bank since June of 1977.  He began his career with the firm in August, 1971 as assistant secretary-treasurer and was promoted to executive vice-president and managing officer in 1975.  In January of that year he was also elected to the board of directors.

He was a past board member of the Louisiana League of Savings Institutions, 1986-87, and still served on various committees of that organization.

President of the Chamber of Commerce in 1980, Cobb was also a past president of the Kiwanis Club, served on the board of Natchitoches Industries, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Assoication, Natchitoches Realtors and First Baptist Church.  He was graduated from Northwestern State University in 1964 with a degree in accounting.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sharon Cobb of Natchitoches; one son, James H. Cobb, II of Natchitoches; two daughters, Kristen Lynn Cobb of Ruston and Karis Lynelle Cobb of Natchitoches; his mother, Mrs. Johnnie Lee Cobb of Natchitoches; two sisters, Mrs. Gloria Foster of Goldonna and Mrs. Johnette Smith of West Monroe; one brother, Gerald W. Cobb of Natchitoches; and his maternal step-grandmother, Mrs. Virginia Harper of Shreveport.

Pallbearers were R. B. Trahan, Dennis Smith, Paul Simmons, Rex Williams, Jerry Gill and Todd Briley.

Honorary pallbearers were officers and directors of Progressive Fedferal Savings Bank.
