If you like Bluebonnets and wild flowers you will love the Fredericksburg, TX area, in the Spring, including:

Westcave Preserve at Bee Cave, TX west side of Austin - this is a unique find, it is a short hike, actually a walk, down into a chasm ending in a grotto and cave.  Along the walk, slightly trevherous due to toots snd rocks, you will see several 500 - 600 year old Cypress trees.  There are four trips into the grotto each day led by knowledgeable guides.  Only 35 people are admitted on each trip at $5 each.

Willow City Loop Road, starts at Willow City, TX 3 miles east of TX 16 north of Fredericksbug and runs north from town.  The road is paved, narrow, about 13 miles long as it winds it's way to TX 16.  The drive is normally replete with Bluebonnets and signs warning that the land on both sides is privately owned and you are not welcome to stop and trespass.

Wild Seed Farm is located 10 miles east of Fredericksburg.  They produce wild flower seeds for sale, have fields of flowers you can walkthrough, have food, gifts lawn and ornamental garden items.  Tho this place is free, it will cost you money for the things you just cannot leave behind.  Our new pickup cost as it gave us room to haul things.  :). Wonderful place.

TX 16 between Fredericksburg  north towards Llano is a beautiful drive to see wild flowers south of Llano and it takes you by the side road to Enchanted Rock, a huge granite outcropping with a history featured in a book written by Rosalie Lott's husband, Jack Ewing.  It is a nice climb to the top that some of us are glad we did a a little earlier age.

I have not mentioned the Admiral Nimitz Museum, the German food places, etc, in Fredericksburg itself.  There are plenty of B & B's, motel, and we can recommend the Fredericksburg RV Park on Highway Street.
