Weldon "Ward"Brooks, Sr.

Funeral services will be held for Ward Brooks on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Airline Baptist Church, Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Harrell Shelton and assisted by Rev. Chad Mills. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, LA.

Ward was a long time member of Airline Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman's and enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and gardening. Sharing the yield of his garden was a great thrill for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Vida Brooks, wife (mother of his children) Johnnie Ruth Brooks and brother, Olan "Dude" Brooks.

Ward is survived by his wife, Janette Lofton Brooks; sons, Weldon W. Brooks, Jr., Ricky D. Brooks, Steven P. Brooks and wife Marti; George C. Brooks and wife Trish; sister, Iona Flowers, stepchildren, Russell Taylor and wife Sally, Steven Taylor and wife Melissa and Susan Cox and husband Richard. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and five step grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Brooks, Ken Bush, Tucker Cox, Don English, Arnie Melton, Harmon Mooty, Charles Sutton, Cameron Taylor, and Nick Timpa. Honorary pallbearers will be Adult IV Sunday School Class, Tony Montalbano, Joe Maggio, Vince Maggio, Luther Mathis,and Bob Yagel.

As per the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Airline Baptist Church, Children's Building Fund.
