Mary Lou Pierson Brown also advised that Gene Book had passed away in Acme, Louisiana.....

"4/12/12 Just received notification that Gene Book, Lynn Straughan Book's husband, died early this morning. When I get more details, I will post. Gene is brother of Don Book (Class of '61). Update: Lynn's daughter notified us that a memorial service will be held April 21, at 1:00 p.m. at the Acme Baptist Church. I believe that's in Monterey, Louisiana."

Here I am.......and glad to be "here I am."....I have had a rough year, and for a short explanation.......I have had pernicious anemia for-ever......the older I am the more the anemia takes a toll.  Read up on the disease and you will know why I am ailing, and not because I am a hypochondriac......My mind is always racing, imaging what I want to do, but my body can't always catch up.....Therefore, I am not lazy, just ailing.  But when I am not ailing........watch out....(Kimberley gives painless injections, and that's a blessing)

Thank goodness I opened my emails today.  And, thank goodnes, the higher-ups have un-barracuda-ed us.  Reading about Gene and his family not only brought back memories, but I just met a Book cousin. Susan works for the person who cuts my hair.  We have gotten to be great friends and she always remembers the Books'.  I wish I knew all the history, but I do know her mother recently died at the age of 93.  I believe she lived close to Ferriday or in the area.  Susan has photographs of her mother and father and they were beautiful people.  Susan knows everyone's names, and she knows someone is a doctor in New Orleans, or there about..I am going to take Susan the write up on Gene and his family and get more information from her.  Yes, Lord, you have made a small world....My computer won't skip to another paragraph, so bear with me, this will all run together.  Saturday, at the Jazz Festival, surrounding the Old State Capitol: Shirley Mclamore, and her state representative son, and his family, walked in.  Shirley looked at me and said, "you're from Natchitoches."  We went from there.....how wonderful to see her,  how wonderful she looks, and how wonderful to have such a beautiful family.  Topping it off is the fact I told the daughter-in-law......"you are a Gilson".........and she is the daughter of Mary Ann Gilson, niece of Dana Ray Gilson Kinnard....She is Mary Ann made over.  I could go on.  I am supposed to be expressing my condolences  to Lynn and all the Book family.  Our ties go way back, and I will repeat......it does not matter if we never get to see each other that strong love always endures.  Henry Gray, the great musician, played here Sat. and I nearly had a breakdown.  The years washed over me.. and I was 15... and the Serenaders were playing at the Natchitoches Country Club.  Powerful, powerful emotions.  And here we are and always will be...here or THERE......together....Gene, save us a place by you****Freddie
