Mrs. Irma Tarver Lewis

One of the teachers who taught me a skill I've been able to use for my entire life, typing.  While other agents sat "hunting and pecking" I was "speedy Gonzales" with writing up my case reports.

The only "funny" I remember in that class was Tom Grafton disassembling his typewriter.  Well, it was funny to us at the time.  :)

Mrs. Lewis was a very special lady and a wonderful teacher.  I took every business course she taught and loved every minute of it...even shorthand, which I truly had a mental block! I can not say that I looked forward to all of my classes, but I can honestly say that I looked forward and enjoyed my classes under Mrs. Lewis.  She knew how to teach, she loved teaching and she loved and respected her students.

Thanks to Mrs. Lewis, I know how to balance my checkbook each month, and I do!  I can type correctly on this computer, ...and I still know my shorthand.  Judy Crow, I can still read shorthand, still know the symbols, but the ole brain just doesn't work fast enough to write it!  :)

No telling how many extra hours Mrs. Lewis spent at the school, working on the Chinquapin, Signal Fires, plus being sponsor of FBLA.  She was always willing to help, was alway an encourager and always had a smile.

After moving back to LA there were several times that I ran into Mrs. Lewis... Sea & Sirloin, Ladie's Night Out at different churches in Natchitoches, etc...and she always knew me.  Again, she always had that sweet, loving smile, always spoke and called me by name, and always gave me a hug.

I am thankful to have known and was taught by this wonderful lady
