Alaska Sea & Land Vacation- 2019

What we wanted:

Something special for 50th,
More national parks,
Longer cruise(third cruise for us)
Chance to see some of Alaska, mountains, glaciers and wildlife:

July:

20th - Drive to DFW after Monroe flight frustration; Fly to Vancouver;

21st - Tour bus picks us up with luggage for city tour of Vancouver, drops us off with luggage at Holland America cruise ship; Begin Inside Passage route; Stateroom called Veranda where we can see sights without going to deck!!!! Hard to believe we were on a boat since no rough seas. We were on port side but think starboard was a little better.

22nd - Scenic Cruising;

23rd - Ketchikan; Misty Fjords Seaplane Adventure; Flew in and out instead of flying in and boating out....because of seaplane collision!! Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show(lame)

24th - Juneau; Whale Watching, Mendenhall Glacier & Orca Point Lodge Meal(ok) as Best of Juneau excursion, Mt Roberts tramway; Neat.

25th - Skagway; Street Car City Tour; White Pass Rail, Klondike Highway & Liarsville Gold Camp; Liarsville was really lame)

26th - Glacier Bay; NP Rangers boarded ship; really enjoyed this trip into the bay;

27th - Sea Day

28th - Debark Ship at Seward; End of sea part, now start land part; Denali Coach drive to Denali; McKinley Chalet Resort; Really nice place to be!!

29th - Tundra Wilderness Tour Denali; Really, really liked this.

30th - Denali Day at Leisure; Trails around visitor center- McKinley Station ranger-led trail, Horseshoe Lake Trail and Mountain Vista Trail at mile 12----Horseshoe the best;

31st - Transfer Hotel/ Rail Depot; McKinley Explorer(train trip was great) Talkeetna; Westmark Anchorage Hotel;

August:

1st - Visit Kenai Fjords NP; Exit Glacier; Glacier Dinner Cruise; this was perhaps our best day!!!!

2nd - Red eye to DFW; Drive home

So three national parks, train, floatplane, glaciers and whales. Not bad.

Biggest disappointment: Never saw Mt. Denali!

I am now at 45 national parks with Marilyn at 41.
