PRAYER REQUEST
Posted Saturday, January 29, 2011 01:40 PM

To all my NHS classmates, I would like to humbly request to be on  your prayer list and your church prayer list for possible pancreatic surgery.  I will go back to the surgeon on Wed., 2/2 to see if my cardiac and pulmonary evaluations and a CT scan proves me well enough to undergo the surgery, which I feel will certainly will be good.  I have a condition called IPMN where the digestive juices secreted in the  pancreas turns to a thick paste and attacks the pancreas.  IPMN normally turns to cancer in 5 years and I was diagnosed 3 years ago but they do not know how long before it was diagnosed.  This is a precautionary surgery and a VERY hard decision to make.  I have diligently prayed about this and I know GOD is in control.  Please remember me in your prayers and I will keep this site informed along with the Message Forum too.  I posted to the Message Forum about 3 weeks ago but thought it might also help to post it here.

THANKS AND GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU.......................JANETTE

Update on Janette - 2/16/11
Posted Wednesday, February 16, 2011 07:26 PM

Here is the latest on Janette as reported by her husband, Ward, to Rosalie, with permission to post it to the website.

"Janette continues to be sedated and on oxygen.  Her husband laughed real big and said that she's being sedated with "the same stuff that dr. gave to Michael Jackson", according to her son, Steven. Tomorrow there will be an effort to reduce the sedative and wean her from oxygen. Jeanette had a touch of pneumonia yesterday morning, but that has been successfully treated.  I may have misunderstood about Janette talking at times.  Ward reported today that she "acknowledges me when I come into the room".  That sounds to me like she is heavily sedated and not talking at all.  Ward hopes to have Janette moved to a rehab facility in Bossier City when she's able.  That will be more convenient for the family."

Received reports from both Phylis Rond & Rosalie Lott today on Janette.  Phylis talked to Ward last night & Rosalie talked to him today.  Janette is still in ICU and will be there a couple more days and then hopefully go into a room.  She is still sedated, still in pain.  She is in Willis Knighton North but of course cannot have phone calls/visitors at this time.

Talked to Ward Wednesday afternoon late.  Said was doing better, could talk, pain was not as great.  The main concern now was her kidneys had not started working yet.  I understand that sometimes it takes a while for the kidneys to wake up.  Just keep praying for God's healing hand.  Pud

Rosalie was told by the hospital Janette was discharged yesterday.  Rosalie has not been able to get through to Janette nor Ward yet so don't know if she is home or in rehab.

Update on Janette 3/15/11

Rosalie made contact with Janette and forward the following update.

I've just talked to Janette!  Can't believe I actually got her on the phone.  Tried hard to connect early after the surgery but she couldn't take calls.  Then, last week the hospital said she had been discharged.  She was not at home; no one was.  Tonight I learned that Ward (husband) was in the hospital last week getting a pace maker.  He's home now.  Janette is at The Promise rehab facility (Room 108) on Viking Drive, Bossier City.  Phone: 318/841-2525.  She was very encouraged when I told her that you all and others had asked about her and wanted to keep up with her progress.  She's been at The Promise for a week and expects to be there maybe two more weeks.  She says she is very weak; she's been hospitalized since Feb. 11.  And, she is in no hurry to go home because she cannot care for Ward nor can he care for her.  Janette says her appetite is returning although she's still being fed intravenously. She has an infection that is being treated.  You may remember that her surgery was 16 hours long and was stopped on Friday, and then continued and finished on Sunday.  She reported the dr. saying, "if we had closed you up on Friday, we would have lost you".  She praised God's goodness and is thankful for the dr. she has. I would say that Janette is very upbeat, hopeful and is going to get well!  PTL!.............................Lee Lee/Rosalie

PS:  Bill: You may post this on the website if you wish.

Wednesday, 23 March update on Janette from Rosalie.........

I had a good visit with Janette today.  She had on her make-up and a bright smile. I must say, for someone who has been hospitalized for 40 days (today was her 40th day), she was very upbeat. Her dr. told her "I'll do my part, God will do his part, and the rest is up to you."  So, she decided that she was not going to become down and out no matter how long it takes her to get well.  She is certainly doing "her part"! Janette just yesterday got back to the rehab hospital (Promise) after another 4-day stay in the hospital where she had her surgery.  She was being treated for a bad infection.  Ward (husband) came in while I was there.  He is recovering from a heart procedure and is going to Lafayette next week to see another heart dr. Both Janette and Ward need our prayers. Janette is at Promise Hospital, 2525 Viking Drive, Room 308, Bossier City, LA 71111.  Phone: 318/841-2525..................Rosalie/Lee Lee

I am finally at home and SO glad to be here.  Ward is a very great nurse and so patient with me, I really appreciate him.  It was so sweet of Rosalie to do updates for me.  I have home health care 7 days per week with a RN, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and an aide to assist me with bathing, etc.

I don't feel real good today but I know there will still be "up and down days.  Friends, church friends and relatives are bringing in so much food but I can't eat much yet but Ward is really enjoying it too.

I want to thank each of you for your prayers, that is the very MOST you could do for me.  It was really a horrible surgery just as the doctor had told me but I know your prayers were a great help.  Please continue to pray for me as I still have a way to go before I can get strength back.  For those of you who called to inquire about me, Ward kept me informed. For those who called me, I sure enjoyed those calls.  Again, THANKS TO EACH AND EVERYONE ONE OF YOU FOR EVERY THING TO HELP ME FEEL BETTER, ESPECIALLY THE PRAYERS.

LOVE TO EACH OF YOU....................................JANETTE

Well, here I  am after another hospital stay for 4 days with another infection.  The wound was getting deeper and they knew something was going on.  Also I've felt real bad and that did not help things.  I went in WKN on Monday and  came home Thursday evening.  Home Health could not believe they let me come home but things seem a little better but the infection is not cleared up yet.  I'm on 2 oral antibotics.  I'm still on a walker and a wheelchair if I go out to the doctors.  Also I am continuing to run a low grade fever every day for 4 1/2 weeks, just enough to make me feel bad.  Gilbert Scarborough called me yesterday at noon and it perked me up, they are doing fine although Gilbert had back surgery since our reunion.

Please continue to keep me in your prayers for I have a ways to go yet.  I love each and everyone of you and  pray for you all too.

Love..................................................Janette
