This is really a list of what we did this summer. I will post the Great Basin NP first with pictures. Others to follow.
I plan to post some articles on our 2010 visits to national park/monuments. I will break it up into several pieces so that I can include more photos. Since we were going to the Utah area, our greatest unexpected experience was seeing aspen trees many times. We are now up to 25 national parks closing in on our short-term target of 50% of 58 which amounts to 29. I expect to post in chronological order but if someone is going to one soon, I will change the priority if you email me the names.
Great Basin NP
Neat park but very remote - definitely recommend it;
Cedar Breaks NM
On the way to Bryce - it is a mini-Bryce which prepares you somewhat for Bryce Canyon;
Bryce Canyon NP
It's all it is cracked up to be but was very crowded;
Scenic HWY 12
Actually starts before Bryce at Red Canyon - continues to Capitol Reef;
Grand Staircase/Escalante NM
On Scenic 12 incredible diversity of geology;
Capitol Reef NP
Drive-through park but was geologically interesting;
Arches NP
Neat Park - don't miss it;
Canyonlands NP
Island in the Sky and Needles Districts
Hard to describe this one although we enjoyed it;
Natural Bridges NM
Spur of the moment on way to Page, AZ - we enjoyed it;
Monument Valley NM
Drive-through monument but wanted to see where many Westerns were made;
Navajo NM
Drive-through monument only;
Glen Canyon National Recreational Area
Spent the night in Page - the dam and Lake Powell are impressive;
Vermilion Cliffs NM
Where Navajo bridge is; 6 miles from Lee's Ferry;
North Rim of Grand Canyon NP
We had previously visited the South Rim - this 'completed' it;
Kolob Canyon of Zion NP
We had previously visited the south side - this 'completed' it.
