Larry Eugene Henderson 

 

July 23, 1936 - November 21, 2009

 

Larry Eugene Henderson, 73, of Longmont, died November 21, 2009 at Boulder Community Hospital. 

He was born July 23, 1936 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Roy and Nellie (Ryff) Henderson.
 
Larry graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1954. He then attended the University of Wyoming until 1956. In 1962, he was awarded a diploma in Architectural Drafting from the Denver Drafting and Automation School. In 1980, Larry received his Associate Degree in Architectural Technology from Front Range Community College.
 
He honorably served in the US Army from October 17, 1957 until his discharge on October 11, 1963. During this time, Larry served in Korea for a year and in the US Air Force Reserves.
 
Larry married Sylvia Thelma Durham on December 9, 1967. They lived in Boulder Heights from 1972 until their move to Longmont in 1999.
 
He was employed as an architectural engineer with IBM for 26 years until his retirement on August 31, 1992.
 
Larry attended Central Presbyterian Church in Longmont. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, hiking, model airplane building, drawing and woodcarving, operating remote control airplanes and spending time with his family. He was also a volunteer at Longmont United Hospital after his retirement.
 
Survivors include his wife Sylvia of Longmont; his son, Larry Eugene Henderson, Jr.; two daughters, Amy Kathleen Henderson and husband Warren Gallaher and Alisa Lynee Bruntz and husband Harry; his brother Roy W. Henderson, Jr. and wife Ann and five grandchildren, Veronica Henderson, Joshua Bruntz, Annika Gallaher, Ira Antos-Henderson and Ezekiel Antos-Henderson.
 
Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 28, at Central Presbyterian Church. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
